Rail Journeys offers unique and exclusive escorted Australian rail holidays and has been operated by Cruise Express since 2016.

Their tours feature a variety of heritage trains from vintage rail motors to heritage steam and diesel hauled trains. One of the highlights is exploring the country towns and lines not normally traversed by regular passenger trains along the way.

Ranging from 3 to 15 days, these adventures explore the diverse and picturesque countryside of New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Queensland. Southern Food and Wine Adventure – the annual culinary expedition takes a new turn as we head south to the borderlands of NSW and Victoria. Discover the restaurants, wineries, distilleries and producers that make this region so remarkable. Visit Walla Park, an exclusive farm visit to learn about Wiradjuri culture, take in a shearing demonstration, visit Morgan’s Lookout and enjoy lunch featuring local produce and beverages. Visit Corowa where three locals bought an abandoned silo full of pigeon poo for AUD1 and turned it into an award-winning whisky distillery. Lunch at De Bortoli’s in Rutherglen? Absolutely! An afternoon cruise on Lake Mulwala? Yes, that too! Board the former ‘Spirit of Progress’ at Yarrawonga and enjoy stops to view the spectacular silo art on the way to Benalla. Join a thrilling, fascinating and unique journey to the Riverina by exclusive heritage diesel-hauled train. Onboard you’ll find spacious seating in 1930s carriages featuring windows that open – better connecting you with the passing countryside. From Griffith, head to Temora for a spectacular day out at the Warbirds Downunder Airshow at the Temora Aviation Museum. With VIP seating, beverages and lunch included. The weekend away then continues further west across the breathtaking Hay Plains. In Hay, visit the fascinating Dunera Museum. Housed in the former Hay Railway Station, it tells the story of over 6,000 civilian internees and prisoners of war who were kept in three prison camps at Hay between 1940 and 1946. Discover Bishop’s Lodge, an extraordinary 1888 iron house surrounded by a historic garden. At the 1878-built Hay Gaol, view an intriguing collection of artefacts and visit Shear Outback to take in a live shearing demonstration.
