The performance - one in the church's regular concert series - includes Mozart's Fantasia in D-minor K. 397, Beethoven's Sonata 13 in E-flat major Op. 27 No. 1 and Sonata 14 in C-sharp minor Op. 27 No. 2 - the famed Moonlight, Schoenberg's Six Little Piano Pieces Op. 19, and Schubert's Fantasia in D-major D. 760 - the Wanderer Fantasy.
The 1858-1864 granite church, in the Gothic Revival style, has a fine acoustic for its instruments: a Kawai grand piano and colonial-built William Anderson 1882 pipe organ.
Josh, from rural Victoria, completed a PhD in Music Performance in 2023 at the University of Melbourne under Professors Ian Holtham and Paul Kildea, and is currently the Kenneth Moore Memorial Music Scholar at Janet Clarke Hall University of Melbourne. Previously, he was invited to undertake periods of intensive private study in Vienna with the late Paul Badura-Skoda, and was among his last students. He has also studied in London with Imogen Cooper.
Josh's previous Christ Church performance in March 2024 sold out, so you might wish to book early to secure a seat at this next concert.
