Fronted by acclaimed Melbourne saxophonist Paul Williamson, the group draws on the rich traditions of classic Hammond organ trios, delivering a sound that is both timeless and fiercely contemporary.
The Combo began their journey in Melbourne in the early 90's, starting a residency at the Rainbow Hotel in Fitzroy in November 1991, 34 years later the band still performs to a devoted following from across the ages, who come from far and wide to experience a Monday night at the Rainbow.
The heart of the band is the unmistakable sound of the Hammond organ, played by the exceptional Tim Neal, whose mastery of tone and touch brings warmth, drive, and melodic depth to every performance. On drums, Michael Jordan supplies the rhythmic engine - tight, inventive, and always locked in - providing the perfect foundation for the Combo's bold and expressive sound.
This is jazz that moves the body as much as the mind: earthy, expressive, and alive with spontaneity. Whether burning through an uptempo original or simmering in a laid-back groove, the Hammond Combo delivers with soul and precision.
