Grade 2: No bushwalking experience required. The track is hardened or compacted surface and may have a gentle hill section or sections and occasional steps. Walks no greater than 10km.
Grade 3: Suitable for most ages and fitness levels. Some bushwalking experience recommended. Tracks may have short steep hill sections a rough surface and many steps. Walks up to 20km.
Grade 4: Bushwalking experience recommended. Tracks may be long, rough and very steep. Directional signage may be limited.
Grade 5: Very experienced bushwalkers with specialised skills, including navigation and emergency first aid. Tracks are likely to be very rough, very steep and unmarked. Walks may be more than 20km.

This self-guided heritage trail explores 31 significant mining and commercial sites, tracing the town's evolution from its gold rush beginnings in the 1850s through to the mid-20th century.

As you wander through the historic township, you'll uncover stories of pioneering miners, local businesses and the people who helped shape one of Victoria's most prosperous mining communities. The walk offers a fascinating insight into Eldorado's rich past and allows visitors to explore at their own pace.

Eldorado remains a popular destination for fossicking and gold panning, with Reedy Creek providing a hands-on connection to the area's gold rush heritage. A Miner's Right is required for fossicking and can be purchased online through the Victorian Government. Reedy Creek is also renowned among gemstone enthusiasts and is considered one of Australia's richest fossicking locations. Visitors may discover a variety of gemstones and minerals, including smoky quartz, agates, amethyst, topaz, citrine, garnet, sapphire, zircon, tourmaline and even traces of alluvial gold.
