With a love for storytelling via improvisation, Amelia is recognized for her breathtaking vocal virtuosity and ability to capture an audience with her authenticity and honesty.
A finalist in the 2020 Wangaratta Festival of Jazz and Blues National Jazz Awards, Amelia has performed with the likes of Terri-Lyne Carrington, James Morrison and Linda Oh, collaborated with pianist Bob Sedergreen on her debut album The First Song, and won a score of awards including the 2017 Generations In Jazz Vocal Scholarship.
In recent years, Amelia has firmly established herself as a versatile vocalist and bandleader in the Melbourne jazz scene, performing with several ensembles at iconic venues and festivals such as the Melbourne Recital Centre, Hamer Hall, the Melbourne Women's International Jazz Festival, and now the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz and Blues.
The Amelia Evans Quartet seeks to combine vocal jazz artistry and improvisation with timeless jazz standards, original works and songs from the Australian Jazz canon.
Joining the Amelia Evans Quartet this afternoon is Australian jazz legend and national treasure, Bob Sedergreen (Piano). Evans is also joined by the formidable Alex Spicer (Drums) and Blakely McLean Davies (Double Bass), returning to the festival after his win in the 2023 Wangaratta Festival of Jazz and Blues National Jazz Awards.
